Food: My Best Friend and My Worst Enemy!

I love food! Everything about it! Well, almost everything. I love the smell, the taste, the way it makes me feel! However, I hate the calories! I hate that if you eat too much, you'll get fat! This is a problem for me because I especially love creating food! I love everything from choosing a recipe, making a list (checking it twice) and grocery shopping to mixing, beating, test tasting and presenting it! I decided to make a blog beacause I have come up with a way to slove this problem! Last fall, Larry and I had been married for 1 year and everyone could tell! I'd gained 10 pounds and Larry had gained about 20 pounds! At that point I said, "ENOUGH! We can loose this weight and still love food!"

Before last fall, I had always become obsessive compulsive about my food itake. These diets were successful for about a month. In that month I would lose about 10 pounds but (because I felt so deprived) it would only take about 2 weeks to gain it all back! In fact, I have lost the same 10 pounds 6 different times! From September to December I lost 15 pounds. I didn't lose it fast but I have now maintained my weight for 2 months!

So what's the secret??! I cook everynight! And I cook delicious, filling meals! By filling, I mean a LOT of food! Which is awesome!! Right now I am cooking for 2 but this can be done with however many people you cook for. I serve the food blue plate style which means it comes out of the oven and on to the plate before it hits the table. This makes it so everyone has 1 perfectly sized portion. Getting seconds is simply not an option because if there are 2 of you, you only cook for 2! I want to share my recipes including proper portion sizes, tips on budgeting at the grocery store and beating the number on the scale with all of you!
